Healthy Habits: Find Motivation to Work Out

There is a reason why gyms are over-packed the first two months of each year, however the crowd seems to thin out gradually into March. This is because the new year is synonymous with setting resolutions about losing weight, becoming healthier and focusing more on wellness. While there are so many good intentions to be healthier, finding ways to start and then maintain motivation to work out can be tricky. That’s why it’s essential to find the best ways to keep your motivation.

For me, I plan my workouts as the first task to accomplish each day. Another trick I use to hold myself accountable to working out, while making it as easy as possible to get myself to the gym each morning, is I lay out my work clothes and all my gear the night before. I also set a timer to have freshly brewed coffee waiting for me when I wake up.

Also, planning ahead helps me get to the gym every day. When my alarm goes off in the morning, I put on my gym clothes immediately once I get out of bed. It works perfectly for me, because by the time I’m awake, I’m already on my way to the gym enjoying a hot cup of coffee.

There are other ways I motivate myself for the gym that you can try yourself. For example, something like a good playlist or having a workout buddy to talk to while working out can be very motivating. Workout buddies are great, because they also hold you accountable to going to the gym each day.

Not everyone is motivated in the same way, so while you might want to try the ideas above, there’s no guarantee they will work.
