Healthy Habits: Setting and Keeping Goals

One challenge that many of my clients face is finding motivation to work out. Sometimes just thinking about working out can be extremely draining, especially when my clients are mentally beating themselves up for not exercising.

The next time you find yourself struggling and failing to find motivation to make it to the gym, choose something easier. For example, you can decide to take a walk or run in place until you can quiet your mind. Maybe you can do 10 squats and 10 sit-ups, or you can do 25 jumping jacks. If you don’t feel like getting exercise, you should still try to focus your energy on a positive practice like meditation or even some quiet rest.

Doing something immediately instead of spending energy thinking about what you’re not doing can be much less draining. Depending on how often you have these types of draining thoughts and react in a positive, immediate way, you might find you’re getting real benefits from doing just a little.

For those of you who struggle with setting and keeping goals, I have great news for you. In April, Growing Forward is offering a workshop on Setting and Keeping Goals. Participants will get clear on what they want. In a safe, welcoming group setting, we will work together to set up goals and timelines to make your goals a reality. You will receive follow-up support to keep you accountable to achieving your goals.

The workshop is on Saturday, April 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The price is $200 per person with a $50 non-refundable deposit required to book your space. Spots are selling out fast, so be sure to lock down your spot today by contacting me.
